Established in 1917 by publisher Joseph Pulitzer, the Pulitzer prize is awarded in 20 categories in journalism. This reference profiles each of the 1100 recipients who have recieved the Pulitzer Prize since it was first awarded. Entries include the winner’s name, year and catagory for the Pulitzer Prize(s) won, plus birthdate, family, education, career summary, other awards won and selected works. Three indexes provide access points to the main entries, and a nominee appendix aims to help students put the winners in perspective by viewing the competition for each award won.
