This volume is devoted to articles concerned with the extraction of raw materials and production based on natural resources: domesticated animals; agricultural land and water. “Classic” articles have also been included to help define the issues. One of the issues covered is whether production and the regional economy in general were expanding or contracting in early Islamic times.
