Description
This text is aimed at both field engineers as a resultion of day-to- day problems on mine fires and also as a reference book for researchers, academicians and students of mining and fuel technology. The work begins with a basic conceptual approach on fires and ends with identification of yet to be resolved problems requiring research and development backup for control of mine fires. The topics include present state knowledge covering different facets of the origin and risk involved in different types of mine fires and preventive measures needed, as well as, techniques to combat multifarious types of mine fires. A large number of case studies have been presented for both surface and underground coal mines as well as for metal mine fires.
