Description

This book examines recent developments in Brazilian labour relations. Analysing the current state of labour relations in Brazil, the author shows how the proposals advanced by the new unionism have put strong pressure on the corporate system still legally enforced and have successfully developed a new political culture he terms the ‘political culture of active citizenship’. MAURICIO RANDS BARROS is Professor of Labour Law at the Federal University of Pemambuco, Brazil. After finishing postgraduate studies in labour law at the University of Bari, Italy, he was awarded a doctorate in politics at St Antony’s College, Oxford. In addition, he works as a labour lawyer for the Central Unica dos Trabalhadores and its affiliates in Recife, Brazil. He has published many articles on labour relations, labour law and comparative labour law.
